What is UCF?

We are a student org that believes in the transforming love and power of Jesus. We were established in 1989 and purchased the student ministry house in 1997. In 2004 we added on the additional buildings for Church and rental house. Sarah Jackson became the lead director in 2006. We have always cared about reaching ALL students and value being multicultural as both members and leaders. We believe Jesus shows us an amazing example of how we are to be a community that is about loving the way He loves.

We are small in number as we are rebuilding from COVID, but we come together weekly for worship, discipleship, and fun activities, along with retreats and outreaches every semester. We look forward to meeting you. Get in touch if you are looking to learn more

Our Beliefs

The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “I AM,” the Creator of heaven and earth, and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (Trinity). (Deut. 6:4; Isa. 43:10-11; Matt. 28:19; Luke 3:22 ).

The Holy Spirit enables believers to achieve supernatural results through His gifts. Without the Holy Spirit, no person could live for Christ successfully. We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit and Gifts of the Holy Spirit, including divine healing, operating through believers in the present day. (Acts 2:4; Rom. 12:1-2; 1 Thes. 5:23; Heb. 13:12; Rom. 6:1-13; Rom. 8:1-13; Gal. 2:20; Phil. 2:12-13; 1 Peter 1:5 ).

The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The scriptures declare:

  • His virgin birth (Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:31-35 ).

    • His sinless life (Heb. 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22 ).

    • His miracles (Acts 2:22; Acts 10:38 ).

    • His substitutionary work on the cross (1 Cor. 15:3; 2 Cor. 5:21 ).

    • His bodily resurrection from the dead (Matt. 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Cor. 15:4 ).

    • His exaltation to the right hand of God (Acts 1:9-11; Acts 2:33; Phil. 2:9-11; Heb. 1:3 ).

The Church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the Church. (Eph. 1:22-23; Eph. 2:22; Heb. 12:23 ).

Christ will come for his Church first (I Thes. 4:17) then come to set up His millennial kingdom. There will be a final judgment for both the living and the dead, a new heaven and a new earth. (Rom. 8:23; Titus 2:13; 1 Cor. 15:51-52; Zech. 14:5; Matt. 24:27-30; Rev. 1:7; Rev. 19:11-14; Rev. 20:1-6; Ezek. 37:21-22; Zeph. 3:19-20; Rom. 11:26-27; Matt. 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; Rev. 19:20; Rev. 20:11-15; Rev. 21:8; 2 Peter 3:13 )

Our Values

We value the Bible as the only reliable solid foundation of all truth and the very words of God Himself to mankind. We believe the Bible renews and guards the mind in truth, gives God’s identity to His people, and communicates God’s heart, plans and intentions for His people. We are a people who memorize and regularly meditate on the Bible, wanting it to be written on our hearts.

We value God’s global heart and are committed to intentionally giving, going, and praying; giving to mission projects and missionaries, going to make disciples of all nations, and praying for every tribe, tongue and nation to know Jesus; till He comes again.

We value the work and manifestation of the Holy Spirit in our midst. We welcome the Gifts of the Spirit and embrace them without fear or hesitancy but with boldness and eagerness. We long for the fruit of the Spirit to be worked into our lives to establish strong character. We regularly have people experience the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the deeper work of purification through the Baptism of Fire, the testing of our faith.

We value God’s diversity as seen through His creation. We value people (the various talents, the different callings, and the uniqueness of personalities) believing that we can all be united under Christ’s Lordship and used to collectively reveal Jesus to the world. We value loving groups of people from all around the world and the cultures each of us bring as we all gather together.

We value personal daily personal prayer and corporate intercessory prayer for the lives of students, the EMU community, Universities in Michigan, and various needs around the world. We believe students are to be equipped with an understanding of prayer and why prayer is so vital.

We value becoming a people who follow Christ in speech, in life, and in every life context; whether family, work, school, community, or recreation. We are a group found caring for our neighbors as we care for ourselves. We believe we are to always see our lives, resources, and talents as vital and foremost to building the Kingdom one person at a time through every means possible.

We value unified, relational living with the body, the EMU community of believers and EMU as a whole. We believe that a healthy community must build relationships that are loving, real, open, and Christ-honoring with each other and that this will ultimately affect the community at EMU.
